The June 5th 2010 Reunion Meeting

Here it is guys... the next reunion meeting will be sponsored by Anita De La Cruz. the place will be Topper's Pizza, 3940 E. Main Street Ventura, Ca. 93003. The directions are as follows; merge onto US-101 N toward I-110 N - 63.3 mi, Take the Main St exit - 0.6 mi, Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Main St E - 243 ft, Turn left at E Main St - 0.3 mi, Take the 3rd right onto Callens Rd Destination will be on the right - 177 ft. April 10th 2010 Reunion Meeting

The second official meeting of the 2010 De La Cruz Family Reunion was held today at Richard and Delia's home in Menifee California. Those in attendance were; Richard and Delia De La Cruz, Steve and Debbie De La Cruz, David and Vicky Leyva, Anna Plascencia, Letty Arvizu and Raul and Ginger Madrid (the one who stole the Dodger Blue). Aside from having a very productive meeting where ideas and decisions concerning the reunion were made and discussed, the other side of the visit was very fun, entertaining and memorable to all that attended but certainly to three who were there who had not seen each other for some time.

Jennie De La Cruz, Nancy De La Cruz and Sally Madrid (Sister-in-laws all) met each other once again after years of not formally sitting down with each other to talk over old times and catching up on the many years that have separated them. With laughter and great respect for each other they sat, talked and ate together for all of the 6 and a half hours they spent at the gathering.

The rest of us, with bellies full of chicken, lengua and carne asada tacos along with all of the fixing brought by everyone who attended, enjoyed as the fun and laughter took different twists and turns as the conversation carried on, of course the champagne and pina coladas had a little to do with it (not much of course)but with all said and done the time was perfect and the company was icing on the cake.

Now back to the meeting; several areas, ideas and concerns were discussed and as a result the following was recorded and decided;

The official date of the reunion will be September 11, 2010, the place will be at the Resurrection Church located across the street from Tio Joe and Tia Josie's home on Opal cross of Lorena Street in East Los Angeles. The address is 3324 Opal Street, Los Angeles, Ca, 90023.

The official starting time will be 3:00 pm and we will have fun until 11:00 pm., the set-up time will be at 1:00 pm and the breakdown time will be at 11:00. The set up time will be used to decorate the hall and the breakdown time will be used to clean the hall.

Background music will be provided with Letty gathering music to play during the early hours of the reunion.

There will be beer, wine and champagne served for the adults and water and fruit punch served for the kids and those who do not want to drink.

Each family will be responsible for the following;

1). Creating a collage of pictures of with the MOM/DAD in center and all family members of that particular family around the main picture,

2). Submitting 15 to 25 pictures by email (ce2005@verizon.net) or snail mail (on a cd) to Richard De La Cruz, 30739 Tierra Linda Ct, Menifee, Ca. 92584. the pictures will be needed to create a DVD to be presented at the reunion. Special pictures of your lost loveone will be needed so as to create a special tribute as part of the DVD.

3). For their share of the reunion cost (to be announced). The cost of the reunion will be divided in a fair and responsible way.

4). Decorating their place of seating at the hall. The colors of the decoration will be the colors chosen by the families. So far the following colors have been chosen; Tio Joe and Tia Josie's NOT DECIDED, Tio Joe and Tia Jennie, WHITE, Tia Sally, Dodger Blue (you know... the one that was stolen from US) and Tio Al and Tia Nancy, BLACK W/Silver lettering. Each family member will wear a t-shirt reflecting their families chosen color.

7). Each family is responsible for their own lodging (Tio and Tia's home will be made available for the elders if they get tired and want to rest and Anna said that there is plenty of back yard behind the house if anyone else gets tired so bring a tent LOL.

THINGS TO BE DONE;

Ginger will be looking into having a cake made for the reunion

Vicky and Anna will looking into security for the event, the "taco guy" and the DJ.

Delia will be looking in to getting two jumpers for the kids.

I just spoke with Anita De La Cruz (April 11, 2010)and gained a committment from her to be the representative for Tio Leo and Nini's family. Anita will be scheduling a place (to be announced) for the next reunion meeting on the 5th of June 2010. Anita also indicated that their color for the reunion will be Teal Blue (not Tio Blu) Teal blue... JK... we will have the place for the next meeting announced within two weeks. It was nice to talk to her.

Now we know who is coming thus far but we also have not heard from Tio Tony and Tia Rachel's family so we need to get this info to them and hopfully gain a committment from them to attend.

NEXT MEETING;

Speaking with Anita, the next meeting will be either near Ventura or near Santa Paula which are pretty much the same distance either way except one is off the 101 and the other is off the 5.

That is where we are right now and we hope to get things pretty much solid by the June 5th date.
